Meet Doctor Damelio

Dr. Steven Damelio was born and raised in the Rochester area. After attending Webster Schroeder High School, he graduated from the University of Rochester in 1983 with a B.A. in Biology. While at the U of R, he was active in the school community, joining the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and serving as president in his senior year.

Following his undergraduate career, Dr. Damelio was accepted into the dental program at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine located in Boston. As a part of his formal education, he participated in five-week dental residencies at Concord State Hospital in New Hampshire and New England Medical Center in Boston. After graduating in 1987, he began working with Dr. John Storella of Boston. In 1990 Dr. Damelio returned to Rochester and joined the practice of Dr. Matthew Mauro in Penfield and took over the practice one year later.

Dr. Damelio is active in the Rochester area dental community. He is a past president of the Monroe County Dental Association and Seventh District Dental Association encompassing Monroe, Ontario, Yates, and Steuben counties. Dr. Damelio also served a three year term as chairman of the New York State Dental Society's Peer Review and Quality Assurance Committee. He is a recipient of the prestigious Greenwood Award given out by the Seventh District Dental Society for service to his profession and community. He currently volunteers his time performing oral health screenings for the pre-school headstart programs in Rochester and plans a yearly visit to local elementary and pre-schools to teach children about dental health. Dr. Damelio also places a strong emphasis on continuing education for himself and his staff.

Outside the world of dentistry, the office contributes to a children's charity every year by donating new and gently used hats, scarves, and mittens and participating in the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester in their annual breakfast with Santa. When not working, Dr. Damelio can be found with his wife and three sons, Matthew, Jacob, and Michael, coaching one of his sons' sports teams, golfing, or working on his Penfield home.
